Food Lion launches grocery store pick-up in Hampton

Select Food Lion grocery stores across Virginia and the Carolinas now offer “Food Lion To-Go.”

One of the locations is in Hampton.

The Hampton store and dozens of others, launched the new shopping program on June 24. See the full list of locations here.

“We are so excited to bring this convenient service to more stores in the Food Lion footprint and enable customers to spend more time on what matters most to them,” said Deborah Sabo, senior vice president of marketing at Food Lion, in a news release. “With the Food Lion To-Go service, our associates become personal shoppers and are able to hand pick the freshest produce and best cuts of meat, just as they would for their own family.”

The Food Lion store in Hampton, 2070 Nickerson Blvd. is the second location on the Peninsula to offer this service. The other is in Grafton, 5210 George Washington Memorial Highway.

Customers can order online and schedule a time pick up their groceries in as little as an hour and get their first pick up free, according to the grocery chain’s announcement.

“We look forward to continuing to nourish our neighbors with this new convenient service,” Sabo said.

It is not clear when the chain will expand its program to other stores in Hampton Roads.

Food Lion To-Go is available everyday from 10 a.m.t o 8 p.m. For more information, visit Food Lion’s website.
