VIRGINIA BEACH – Very few details are being released abut the arrest of a local police officer Wednesday.
Authorities would only say Master Police Officer Albert Joseph DeAngelis II, 48, had been arrested on suspicion of one count of domestic assault – which allegedly happened Tuesday.
DeAngelis has been with the Virginia Beach Police Department for 17 years and is assigned to the Operations Division, Uniform Patrol.
Officials said he will remain on administrative assignment pending the outcome of the criminal and administrative investigations.
It’s unclear whether DeAngelis will be paid during that “administrative assignment.”
The case is under investigation by the department’s Office of Internal Affairs and the Detective Bureau.
