NEWPORT NEWS — The Southeastern Virginia Health System opened another location in the city: Warwick Physicians. The new community health center offers family practice and pediatrics services.
It opened June 3.
“We accept everybody,” said Shelby Williams, spokeswoman for the nonprofit organization. “Nobody is left behind.”
Warwick Physicians is the organization’s 14th site in the Hampton Roads area and uses federal grants from the Health Resources Services Administration to fund the community health centers.
“We opened the site because there is a great need for services and health care in this area,” Williams said, adding the organization wanted to bridge the gap and connect the Denbigh area with the downtown area of the city.
The new location accepts most insurance providers and offers services such as health care for the homeless, a pharmacy assistance program, which provides free or reduced priced medication for those who can’t afford it, the Ryan White program, a national program geared toward people with HIV and AIDS, and case management services.
Williams said the center provides a sliding fee program and accepts people who are insured, uninsured or underinsured.
Warwick Physicians, 9294 Warwick Blvd., is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
