Go on a walking tour
The Virginian Legends Tour pays homage to native Virginians who have made major contributions to society.
Start the tour on 13th Street and follow the path to see plaques dedicated to honorees like Ella Fitzgerald and Thomas Jefferson.
The ViBe District, Virginia Beach’s hub for art, food, and culture, keeps an interactive map on its website for self-guided public art tours.
If you’re into art but also like to be indoors, check out the Virginia Beach Art Center. It’s a common social and workplace whether you’re an art appreciator or creator.

Go window shopping
Virginia Beach has multiple farmers markets right here in the city.
Old Beach, King’s Grant, and Shore Drive Farmers Markets all have seasonal hours, but Virginia Beach Farmers Market is year round.

Shopping centers are for more than just shopping. Free events are always happening the city’s Lynnhaven and Pembroke malls.
The Town Center even has free parking.
Listen to live music
The Sandler Center Outdoor Plaza hosts Ynot Wednesdays from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. throughout the summer. Check their schedule to see who’s playing.
Live! on Atlantic is another ongoing free entertainment event hosted right on the oceanfront every weekend.
And, last but not least…
Go to the Beach
Virginia Beach draws tourists from all over to its oceanfront every year and– they’re free!
Take a stroll on the 3-mile long boardwalk. Or, take a bike ride, skateboard, or rollerblade on the adjoining bike path.
Don’t forget to stop and see the massive 34-foot Neptune statue outside of Neptune’s Park located right off of the boardwalk.
If you’re in town the last weekend in September, you’ll also be able to catch the annual Neptune Festival Boardwalk event.
