VIRGINIA BEACH – Some good news for tourists and those living in the Oceanfront area: The Doctor’s In – in Pacific Place that is.
While the walk-in urgent care clinic has been around since 2003 and is currently located at 913 First Colonial Road, The Doctor’s In will soon take up residence in Suite 104 at Pacific Place, 3198 Pacific Ave., which was most recently occupied by Beecroft and Bull.
Dr. David Werwath, an American Board of Emergency Medicine certified ER physician, has for 20-plus years worked both in and out of state. He said he decided to bring his urgent care expertise to a private location when he moved back to the beach.
“The practice has progressed from urgent care to general care, with many primary care patients,” he said.
In addition to himself, the office employs a nurse, a family nurse practitioner, two receptionists, home administrative support, and four medical assistants/scribes.
Werwath said his business plan always included starting an urgent care at the Oceanfront where he could also serve vacationers to Virginia Beach.
“An opportunity arose at (that) location and it was seized upon,” he said.
The new clinic will feature 2,000 square feet and include five exam rooms, a large waiting room, and an administrative area.
Werwath said they plan to open the new office in mid-June. The hours of operation will be determined by the demand for services.
“I always wanted to run a clinic so that I could see patients at my own pace, giving the type of care that I felt the public deserved while enjoying my job to the maximum,” he said.
The Doctor’s In provides a friendly, caring atmosphere with a staff that is willing “to be busy and taxed,” Werwath said. “No medical practice is perfect but we strive to provide the most current, modern, and successful therapies for all patients who seek our care.”
