NORFOLK — The body recovered from the Lafayette River Tuesday is that of John E. Cash, the local man missing since Monday night.

Police said the 25-year-old left his home “not wearing any clothes” near the area of Granby and Thole streets.

Authorities said Cash was diagnosed with schizophrenia and required medication.

Just before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, dispatchers received a call about a man’s body floating in the Lafayette River just offshore in the Talbot Park neighborhood.

Norfolk Police and fire-rescue responded and recovered the body from the water.

Tuesday night, police confirmed that the body recovered was Cash.

No foul play is suspected
