Domoishi, the Asian fusion chain, is coming to Peninsula Town Center.
“We have several [restaurants] in the Hampton Roads area,” said Sam Huang, Domoishi’s owner, adding he plans to have four to five locations in Richmond with future plans to expand Domoishi in Northern Virginia and Maryland.
“This is a fast casual business model,” he said. “We create a good atmosphere with no service needed.”
Domoishi serves poke, ramen, Korean wings and Boba Tea and leased 1,600 square feet of retail space at the corner of Holt Avenue near Target, according to a news release from Divaris Real Estate Inc.
Sam Huang said the Hampton location won’t be up until October or November since he is still waiting on the landlord to hand over the space to Domoishi in late June.
Currently, three Domoishi locations are now open in Williamsburg, Downtown Norfolk and Hilltop in Virginia Beach, which opened recently. In February of this year, its Williamsburg location rebranded from Yamachan to Domoishi.

Gordon Huang is Sam Huang’s business partner and in charge of marketing for Domoishi and clarified his previous statement about no service needed.
“It’s a limited service restaurant,” said Gordon Huang, who is not related to Sam Huang. He said in the future, Domoishi plans to incorporate iPads and a point of sale system for its customers.
All Domoishi locations offer delivery service through Postmates, GrubHub, Uber Eats and DoorDash, he added.
“We want to make this a franchise company,” Gordon Huang said. “It’s a great concept –– we offer a lot of health food to snacks to a bowl of soup.”
The chain plans to open two more locations in Hampton Roads next month, another in Virginia Beach and one in Suffolk.
The chain is hiring for the two Virginia Beach locations and the Suffolk location and plans to start hiring people for the Hampton location at Peninsula Town Center in June or July, Gordon Huang said.
The Harbor View location in Suffolk opens June 3 and the Princess Anne location in Virginia Beach will open June 10.
