NEWPORT NEWS — The Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter received $50,000 from Petco for an adoption bus and community outreach.

“We are very grateful to the Petco Foundation for awarding us this lifesaving grant,” said Roger Iles, the Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter’s manager. “The new adoption bus will allow us to get more animals out of the shelter and into their forever homes by taking adoptable animals to off-site events and increase the public’s awareness of our shelter.”

The animal shelter, while located in Newport News, also serves the communities of Hampton, Poquoson and York County and the building houses a veterinary clinic, pet space for dogs, cats, and other animals and animal control, according to a news release.

“We encourage folks to look for this new bus out in the community and to stop by and see some of the amazing companion animals that we have for adoption,” Iles said.
