VIRGINIA BEACH – A 28-year-old local man is headed to prison. His crimes: Two counts each of forcible sodomy, and custodial indecent liberties.
His victim: A child.
Ian Daniel Palmer was sentenced Monday to 44 years in prison with 29 years suspended, leaving 15 years to serve, according to the Virginia Beach Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.
Palmer pleaded guilty on Oct. 2, 2018.
Prosecutors said the child, on Feb. 16, 2018, reported the sexual assault to police.
An investigation indicated the abuse “occurred frequently over a three-year period,” prosecutors said.
Palmer blindfolded the child and told the child not to report the abuse to the child’s mother.
During an interview with police, Palmer did not fully admit to the crime “but did apologize for his actions,” prosecutors said.
