VIRGINIA BEACH – A 52-year-old local man found with thousands of files of child porn will be spending some time in prison.
John William Princeton was sentenced Tuesday to 130 years for possession of child pornography, 18 counts of possession of child pornography — subsequent offense — and six counts of distribution of child pornography, according to the Virginia Beach Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.
Circuit Court Judge Les L. Lilley suspended 105 years of those, leaving 25 years for Princeton to serve.
Princeton, a former Virginia Port Authority officer, pleaded guilty in August.
The case
Prosecutors said between March 21, 2017 and Jan. 3, 2018, a Virginia Beach Police detective found more than 1,300 child pornography files from Princeton’s computer using two different IP addresses.
Some of the child pornography involved children as young as 3 years old engaged in “sexually explicit conduct with adult men.”
There was also a file that showed a child engaging in bestiality. Further investigation revealed Princeton to be the subscriber for those IP addresses, according to the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.
Police searched Princeton’s home on Feb. 14, 2018. He admitted to police he downloaded numerous child porn files.
Princeton provided detectives a pass code for an external hard drive which contained child porn, prosecutors said.
Princeton also took photos of a child, and those photos were recovered during the investigation.
In total, the forensic analysis found that Princeton had more than “328,000 files of pictures and videos of child porn/erotica material,” prosecutors said.
