VIRGINIA BEACH – The city’s Housing & Neighborhood Preservation is currently accepting public comments on its draft Annual Action Plan for the 2019 fiscal year (July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020).
The plan outlines how the department will use and allocate more than $4.7 million in funding under the following federal entitlement grants: Community Development Block Grant, HOME Investment Partnerships, Emergency Solutions Grant and the Housing Opportunities for People with AIDS Program, officials wrote in a news release.
Those funds are used to support programs to create affordable housing opportunities, address homelessness and provide home rehabilitation grants and loans for low- to moderate-income homeowners.
Residents can view the draft Annual Action Plan and provide comments here. There will be a public hearing April 11, at 5:30 p.m. at the Municipal Center, Building 21, 2408 Courthouse Drive. The 30-day comment period ends on April 26.
Final fund allocations are subject to City Council appropriation and approval of the Annual Action Plan by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, officials said.
