VIRGINIA BEACH — Do you have a start-up, social enterprise, or an innovative idea that could be the “next big thing?”

Something in the Water is partnering with Old Dominion University and Cox Communications to offer the first “SPLASH! SITW Pitch Competition” on April 26, during the first day of the Pharrell Williams-backed festival at the Oceanfront.

SPLASH! is open to any undergraduate or graduate student attending a Virginia college, university, or community college, according to a news release from festival organizers.

Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. on April 5, and are available online. Only the first 200 applications will be  accepted, according to terms of the application. Six applications will be selected as the finalists and notified on April 15.

Three $2,500 prizes will be awarded, according to the news release — “Biggest Social Impact,” “Boldest Emerging Technology Application,” and “Cox Communications Best Female Founder.”

Something in the Water runs April 26-28 in.
