VIRGINIA BEACH — Organizers of Something in the Water, the Pharrell Williams-backed art, music and culture festival — expect crowds at the Oceanfront similar to Fourth of July — only for three days instead of one, according to a news release from the city.
With programming stretching from Rudee Loop to the Convention Center to 31st Street, the city is teaming with the festival organizers to make sure residents in and near the Resort Area know what to expect and can plan accordingly.
Here’s what residents should know
- There will be direct mail campaign to residents and businesses at the Oceanfront with information. The festival website will be the central source for news and updates.
- There will be a public meeting at the Virginia Beach Convention Center April 8, 6:30 – 8 p.m. According to the city’s news release, topics to be discussed include:
- Traffic
- Parking
- Safety
- Access for Oceanfront residents, hotel guests, employees of businesses
- Where to get information
- Human Rights Commission Observer Program
- A smartphone app for the festival will be available after April 1 in the Google Play and Apple stores. It will also be available on the festival website.
Residents living in or near the Oceanfront, resort area businesses and their employees are encouraged to attend.
Organizers are working with businesses, civic leagues, and management associations to maintain access to the Oceanfront for businesses and residents near the festival footprint along Atlantic Avenue. Residents may email questions related to accessing your property or place of work during the festival.
