VIRGINIA BEACH – Richard Allen Brown will probably be an old man by the time he gets out of prison.
The 48-year-old Virginia Beach man was sentenced Wednesday to 50 years in prison – with 10 suspended, according to the Virginia Beach Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.
His crimes: Rape, aggravated sexual battery, forcible sodomy, and custodial indecent liberties.
Prosecutors said Brown pleaded guilty to custodial indecent liberties, and was found guilty following a trial on the rest of the charges.
Between Dec. 20, 2014 and Feb. 29, 2016, Brown “sexually abused a minor known to him on multiple occasions,” prosecutors said.
The victim reported the abuse to a family member. DNA testing proved that Brown had sexual contact with the victim, prosecutors said.
Brown has an extensive prior record dating back to Philadelphia in 1989. His prior record includes convictions for five counts of robbery, rape, four counts of possession of burglary tools, four counts of possession of a concealed weapon, sexual assault and embezzlement, according to the commonwealth’s attorney’s office.
