Residents who like dogs and family-friendly festivals have something to look forward to this Saturday.

James City County is set to host Fido Fest from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Jamestown Beach Event Park, 2205 Jamestown Road, the county said in a news release.

The event features dog-friendly activities, games and contests, such as the “Fido Fashion Show,” best trick contest and dog photo contest.

The dog photo contest should be entered online in advance of the event by emailing parks.rec@jamescitycountyva.gov by Wednesday. The best trick and fashion shows can be entered during the event Saturday.

The Hungry Pug and Hungry Hungry Arrow food trucks will be onsite for the festival, as well as community vendors. Merchandise will also be sold at the festival.

While the event is dog-centric, the canines must still be on leashes less than eight feet long. All dogs must also be current on vaccinations.

The event costs $5 per car for admission, payable by cash or check only. The event is co-sponsored by Heritage Humane Society and Peninsula Animal Referral Center.
