Gun death marks first homicide of 2019 in Norfolk, police say

NORFOLK — Police are investigating a shooting here that left a man dead Saturday.

The incident marks the first homicide of 2019 in Norfolk, according to a police news release.

Dispatchers received a call around 10:43 p.m. Saturday for a “gunshot disturbance” in the 2600 block of Ballentine Boulevard. There, officers found 40-year-old Lorenzo Antwoine Roberts of Chesapeake outside a home suffering from gunshot wounds.

The man was pronounced deceased on-scene, according to the news release.

Detectives have not released a motive or the circumstances surrounding the deadly incident.
