Here’s what’s being built in front of TNCC off I-64

HAMPTON — Thomas Nelson Community College is building a sign and message board along Interstate 64.

“The sign is expected to be completed by the end of March, weather permitting,” said Naima Ford, spokeswoman for the university.

Ford said the entire project costs $449,459 from locality funds and Noah Enterprises in Virginia Beach is the contractor.

The four-sided sign will stand 31.8 feet tall and features two LED message board which faces the highway and two side panels with “Thomas Nelson Community College.”

“Within the structure will be color changing lights so the sign can be visible at night,” Ford said.
