Find something new to read at this local author fair

NORFOLK — Come out to the Slover Library on March 2 to meet local authors, discuss the latest books and enter to win local books and local food.

Norfolk Public Library will be hosting their second annual NPL Author Fair, featuring local authors from a wide variety of genres and subjects starting at 10 a.m.

Check out the fair to meet your local authors, buy their books and get an autograph.

There will be authors from genres like fantasy, poetry, children’s literature, local history and more.

There will be a special guest appearance by Norfolk native Charlene Butts Ligon, author of “Fearless: How a poor Virginia Seamstress took on Jim Crow, beat the poll tax and changed her city forever.”

In addition to the local authors there will be seminars available on writing, publishing and marketing throughout the fair, all led by local writers.

There will be a Food Truck Rodeo gathering by the library and if you bring in a flyer or booklet from the fair to Slover Library’s in-house cafe, Cuisine, you can receive a 10 percent discount, according to NPL.

There’s also raffle for a chance to win gift cards to local restaurants or a book by a local author, library officials said.
