There will be an active shooter training at JEB Little Creek so don’t panic

VIRGINIA BEACH — Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story will conduct an Active Shooter Training Exercise at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 5) as part of Exercise Solid Curtain-Citadel Shield 2019.

Measures are being taken to minimize disruptions to the surrounding communities and to normal base operations, but minimal traffic impacts may be experienced in the vicinity of all gates, according to a news release from the base.

The training event will involve the use of blank fire, base officials said.

The exercise is designed to enhance the readiness of installations security forces and ensure the processes and procedures are in order among the commands, other services and agency partners.

The SC-CS19 training event is not in response to any specific threat.

As previously reported, area residents in the vicinity of the base may see additional military activity associated with the training exercise.

During any SC-CS19 associated training event, there is the possibility of traffic and pedestrian congestion associated with exercises.

In addition, residents may hear increased use of the installations emergency announcing system associated with the exercises.

SC-CS19 is a two-part, anti-terrorism/force protection exercise conducted by Commander, U.S. Fleet Forces and Commander, Navy Installations Command, on all continental Navy installations.

SC-CS19 will take place from Feb. 4-15, base officials said.
