Here’s how you can chime in on the renovation of this park

VIRGINIA BEACH — Parks & Recreation is seeking feedback as it begins the process of renovating Salem Woods Park.

With a plan to replace the park’s existing baseball fields with a rectangular multipurpose field among other new future planned amenities, the department invites residents to attend an open house session on Feb. 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kempsville Recreation Center, 800 Monmouth Lane, where department representatives will be answering questions about the project, according to a news release from the city.

Those unable to attend the open house can submit their comments via an online form no later than Feb. 15.

Following the feedback period, construction is anticipated to begin in April.

The site plans outline the proposed design for the park that will include a rectangular multipurpose field, a dog park outfitted with designated areas for both large and small dogs, wider walkways, along with future plans for a new large shelter and expanded parking.

With the removal of the baseball fields, the Larkspur Salem Recreation Association will be relocating its baseball program to Rosemont Forest Athletic Park.
