HAMPTON — Mayor Donnie Tuck will dedicate a monument to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and other city heroes at the Hampton Roads Convention Center on Jan. 21.
The dedication ceremony is free and open to the public.
According to the city’s announcement, the Hampton Heroes Plaza will honor four people who contributed to the city’s history and the memorial is designed to grow over time.
Some people honored include Frank Baker, Katherine G. Johnson, State Sen. Hunter B. Andrews and Booker T. Washington. See the full list of names here.
