Snow scare: Who plows Colonial Parkway during the shutdown?

The National Park Service is still closed because of the partial government shutdown.

So who’s in charge of plowing Colonial Parkway if it snows?

Apparently, still the National Park Service.

“The National Park Service will clear the Parkway of snow, if it is impacted by wintry weather,” Gail Whittaker, city spokeswoman for Yorktown, wrote in an email.

Whittaker said the county administrator spoke with the park superintendent who confirmed NPS will clear the parkway in case of snow.

Because of the partial government shutdown, the park superintendent is not available to speak with the media, Whittaker said.
