It’ll be 2019 soon and Virginia State Parks wants residents to ring in the new year with a bit of nature.
On New Year’s Day, all Virginia State Parks will offer free parking and the first 100 visitors to each park will receive a special bumper sticker, according to a news release from the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation.
Virginia State Parks will also be offering two separate contests in which participants can win gift certificates valued at up to $500. To be eligible, participants need only to register, hike in the park on Jan. 1 and then record the hike online. Registration must be done online before midnight on Monday.
There will also be an annual photo contest to give visitors the chance to win gift certificates that can be used for camping and cabin reservations at any of the state parks or to purchase annual passes.
The photo must be taken on Tuesday at one of the Virginia State Parks and needs to be uploaded to the contest site online before midnight Tuesday. Participants can enter up to three photos.
