Attention all New Town residents and shoppers: Those pesky cobblestones at the intersection of Settlers Market and Casey boulevards have been removed.

On Monday, contractors finished paving the intersection and reopened it to traffic, said Jason Purse, James City County assistant county administrator.

The project was prompted by numerous complaints from the residents of townhomes on the surrounding streets since they were first placed there by Settlers Market’s original developers.

Work started in November and was done by Norfolk-based Excel Paving Corporation.

At its start, the cost of the project was estimated at just under $50,000.
