VIRGINIA BEACH — City offices and facilities will be operating under varied schedules during the upcoming holiday season.
Most city of Virginia Beach offices and facilities will be closed Dec. 24 and 25 and Jan. 1.
However, the following agencies have alternate schedules:
- Waste Collection
- Tuesday, Dec. 25 — No collection. Collection will instead be on Monday, Dec. 24
- Wednesday, Dec. 26 — Normal collection
- Tuesday, Jan. 1 — Trash/Recycling will be collected on Monday, Dec. 31.
- VB Landfill and Resource Recovery Center will be closed on Dec. 25, 26 & Jan. 1.
- All city community recreation centers
- Dec. 24 — Closed at noon
- Dec. 25 — Closed
- Dec. 31 — Open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. (regular operating hours)
- Jan. 1 — Close at 5 p.m.
- All city parks and park facilities
- Dec. 24 — Closed at noon
- Dec. 25 — Closed
- Dec. 31 — Open 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (regular operating hours
- Jan. 1 — Close at 5 p.m.
- All city public libraries will be closed Dec. 24, 25, 2018 and Jan. 1.
- Note: All public libraries will close at 5 p.m. on Dec. 31, New Year’s Eve
- Joint Use Library at TCC/Virginia Beach Campus will be closed Dec. 20-31 and Jan. 1.
- Sandler Center for the Performing Arts
- Dec. 24, 25 and Jan. 1 — Closed
- The Francis Land House will be closed Dec. 25, 26 & 27, and open Dec. 28-31.
- The Princess Anne County Training School/Union Kempsville High School Museum, located within the Renaissance Academy, follows the Virginia Beach City Public School operating schedule and will be closed Dec. 21-Jan. 1.
- Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center
- Dec. 24 — Open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Dec. 25 — Closed
- Dec. 26 — Jan. 2 — Open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Virginia Beach Animal Care and Adoption Center
- Dec. 24 — Adoption Lobby – Closed
- Dec. 24 — Surrender/Reclaim Lobby Open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Dec. 25 — Closed
- Jan. 1— Closed
- Virginia Beach Farmers Market — Most market vendors will close at noon on Dec. 24 and will be closed all day Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.
- Virginia Beach Visitor Center at Chesapeake Bay Center at First Landing State Park
- Dec. 24 & 25 — Closed
- Dec. 31 — Open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Jan. 1 — Closed
- Virginia Beach Visitor Information Center at 2100 Parks Ave.
- Dec. 24 & 25 — Closed
- Dec. 31 — Open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Jan. 1 — Closed
The following state facilities will be closed Dec. 24, 25, 31 and Jan. 1.
- Virginia Beach Circuit Court and clerk’s offices
- Virginia Beach General District Court
- Virginia Beach Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court and the Juvenile Court Service Unit
- Virginia Beach Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney
- Virginia Beach Public Health Department
