NORFOLK — The Slover Library is bringing the holidays to life with the animatronic figures from the Coleman Nursery signature collection.

Carolers, a singing bear trio, Santa and his elves and woodland animals come to life in this must-see holiday tradition.

Slover Library is proud to partner with the Portsmouth Museums Foundation to bring these classics to downtown Norfolk, according to a news release from the city.

The displays are up through Dec. 31.

At the Slover Library’s annual Winter Wonderland visitors can join in on games, crafts, music, performances and more.

This free day of events is Friday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Also, make time for D.D. Delaney’s one man show of “The Christmas Carol” at 2:30 p.m.

In addition to taking in the holidays at Slover, you can enter to win passes to see the rest of the Coleman Collection of animatronic figures at their Winter Wonderland in Portsmouth.

In 1964, Coleman’s Nursery, in the Churchland section of Portsmouth, opened a winter woodland display that would become a renowned, must-see holiday tradition.

The City of Portsmouth Museums acquired the collection in 2004 when Coleman’s closed.
