Locals in Hampton Roads might see some snowfall soon, but don’t pull out those snow shovels just yet.
At 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, the National Weather Service in Wakefield recorded moderate snow showers south of the James River which could potentially move into Williamsburg later in the afternoon, said meteorologist Alec Butner.
If the snow does cross the river, Williamsburg can expect potentially one-half inch of snow.
“This is probably just going to be relatively short-lived and then it’ll be done,” Butner said.
This weekend, light snow is predicted for the second half of Sunday and possibly into Monday.
Right now, there is no estimate on how much to expect but Butner said Hampton Roads, including Williamsburg, is on the transition cusp where the precipitation might turn into rain instead of snow.
