VIRGINIA BEACH — Police here are releasing very few details about a double shooting that left a man and a woman dead Monday.
Police are investigating the incident as a murder-suicide.
Officers went to the scene in the 1100 block of Revelstroke Court at around 11:48 a.m. Monday “to assist a citizen who was concerned for the wellbeing of a co-worker,” according to a police news release.
Police went inside the home and found John Dowling, 62, and Elizabeth Engle, 67, “both suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.”
Dowling was pronounced dead at the scene; Engle was taken to a local hospital where she later died.
“No suspects are being sought in this case,” said police spokeswoman Linda Kuehn.
