Study: Virginia Beach is America’s 4th safest city in 2018

VIRGINIA BEACH — This city was ranked as one of the safest cities in America, according to a study from WalletHub.

The study listed Virginia Beach as fourth safest of those cities studied. In order to perform the study, WalletHub compared 182 cities — including the 150 most populated U.S. cities, plus at least two of the most populated cities in each state — across three key dimensions:

  • Home and community safety
  • Natural-disaster risk
  • Financial safety

According to WalletHub’s study, those three dimensions were evaluated using 39 relevant metrics each graded on a 100-point scale, with a score of 100 representing the highest level of safety. Some of the metrics included; presence of terrorist attacks, assaults per capita; earthquake and flood risk-levels, unemployment and poverty rates rate, and median credit scores.

The study used data from nearly two dozen federal, credit, real estate, and private sources.

The City of Norfolk was ranked 64th safest in WalletHub’s study, while Richmond was listed as 67th.
