VIRGINIA BEACH — Police here are piecing together the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a local man Thursday afternoon.
On Friday, police identified the man as 20-year-old Devin Earl Bell. No other information about the incident was immediately released.
Dispatchers at 1:06 p.m. received a report of “a gunshot wound” in the 1100 block of Black Duck Court.
There, officers found “an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound,” according to a police news release.
Bell died at the scene.
“Information was received that an adult male in his 20s was seen running from the scene,” police said in the news release. “Additional officers converging on the scene quickly began to look for this man. At this time it is unknown if this man is related to the homicide.”
Police said the man seen running was wearing dark clothes.
