‘Extinguish Hunger’
The Virginia Beach Fire Department has been partnering with the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia since March 2017 when the “Extinguished Hunger” campaign was launched.
Art Kohn Jr., spokesman for the VBFD, said every fire station in Virginia Beach “has boxes placed at the front door for the public to come by and drop off their food donations.”
“Since the start of the Extinguish Hunger campaign, VBFD has donated almost 10,000 pounds of non-perishable food items to the Foodbank,” Kohn said. “That does not include an additional 5,000 pounds of food items donated to other food drives on-going in the City of Virginia Beach. VBFD is proud to be a part of this effort and even prouder of our citizens who are the really the ones responsible for the success of this campaign.”
