Here are some great ways to volunteer in November

VIRGINIA BEACH — Nov. 17 is Family Volunteer Day, a global day of service that celebrates the power of families who work together to support neighborhoods and communities.

More than 500 volunteers in Hampton Roads will complete projects to benefit local nonprofits.

Volunteer Hampton Roads will lead the efforts this year, which will take place in the Student Center of Virginia Wesleyan University from 9 a.m. until noon. A light breakfast and coffee will be provided beginning at 8:30 a.m., according to the Volunteer Hampton Roads website.

Activities during Family Volunteer Day will include, but are not limited to, assembling emergency preparedness kits for seniors, partnering with children from Families of Autistic Children of Tidewater to participating in field games, mural painting, and helping with the Grand Illumination Parade.
