A Williamsburg Police lieutenant was arrested Wednesday night after an armed barricade situation at a James City County home, police say.

Richard Frederick Drab Jr., 50, is charged with felony shooting within an occupied dwelling, domestic assault, brandishing and reckless handling of a firearm, according to James City County Police.

Police were called to a home in the 4600 block of Noland Boulevard around 5:15 p.m. for a report of a barricaded and armed person, a James City County Police news release indicated.

The situation stemmed from a “domestic issue,” when Drab fired an AR-15 rifle once inside the house, police said.

No injuries were reported.

Drab surrendered to police around 7:10 p.m.

He is being held in the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail without bond.

After the barricade situation, police seized six firearms from the home, including handguns and long guns, according to the news release.
