According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, influenza viruses typically circulate widely in the United States from the late fall through early spring.
Although most people infected with influenza viruses recover without complications, influenza can cause serious illness and death.
That risk is higher among older adults, very young children, pregnant women and those with chronic medical conditions.
Annual influenza vaccination is the primary means of preventing influenza and its complications.
Dental screening information:
Limited dental screenings will be offered for children ages 18 and younger. Dental screenings will be conducted by the Virginia Beach Department of Public Health Dental staff.
