NORFOLK — Five Hampton Roads men were arrested here Tuesday as part of “Operation Goodfellas” for their alleged participation in a $19 million drug trafficking conspiracy.
Those arrested were Reginald Sam Beale, 38 of Norfolk, Maurice Antonio Barnes, 36 of Norfolk, Brandon Jaami Williams, 37 of Virginia Beach, Breon Lashawn Dixon, 39 of Chesapeake and Johnell Deshawn Stepney, 34 of Norfolk.
Counting the five arrested Tuesday morning, there were a total of nine defendants listed in the federal indictment.
“These defendants allegedly distributed approximately $19 million of illegal narcotics in Hampton Roads,” said G. Zachary Terwilliger, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia.
According to allegations in the indictment, from approximately 2009 to present, several significant drug traffickers from the Ingleside section of Norfolk have been involved in distributing large quantities of heroin, cocaine, crack cocaine and marijuana.
A conservative estimate of the amount of narcotics this drug trafficking organization is responsible for distributing is 11 1/2 kilos of crack, 436 kilos of cocaine, 54 kilos of heroin, 1 ounce of fentanyl and over 20 pounds of marijuana, with a street value of more than $19 million, federal prosecutors said.
The arrests were made by nearly 150 law enforcement officers from the FBI, DEA, Norfolk Police and U.S. Marshals.
