VIRGINIA BEACH — Budding scientists can conduct experiments, explore subjects ranging from bees to satellites — and get their faces painted too — at Virginia Beach Public Library’s Science Play Day on Oct. 13.

The event will be from 10 a.m. to noon at the TCC/City of Virginia Beach Joint-Use Library.

Funded by the Friends of the Virginia Beach Public Library, the event is for children ages three and up and their families, and is free and open to the public, according to a news release from the city.

“Virginia Beach Public Library offers year-round preschool and elementary science classes, where children learn STEAM – science, technology, engineering, art and math – concepts through fun, age-appropriate experiments and activities,” said Katie Cerqua , Youth and Family Services manager. “We’re offering Science Play Day to open these fun learning opportunities to the whole family.”

Local organizations including Lynnhaven River Now, Back Bay Amateur Astronomers, the Butterfly Society and others are participating to help share their expertise and spark learning and curiosity.

The Tidewater Community College/City of Virginia Beach Joint-Use Library is on the TCC Virginia Beach Campus, Building L, on the corner of South Rosemont Road and Faculty Boulevard.
