A man is facing charges after he allegedly tried to bite an officer while being taken to the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.
Thurone Austin, 45, is accused of attempting to bite and kick an officer while being processed at the jail on other charges Sunday, according to reports from James City County Police.
At 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, officers were dispatched to the 100 block of DeHaven Court after the victim reported that Austin, of Chesterfield, was allegedly trespassing at her residence, police spokeswoman Stephanie Williams said.
Officers had also warned Austin earlier that day that he was not welcome at the residence at the request of the victim, Williams added.
Austin was transported to the jail where police say he became disruptive toward the officer as she removed him from the vehicle and took him into the jail. Austin allegedly verbally threatened the officer and then attempted to bite her twice. Once inside, he also kicked her in the leg, Williams said.
He continued to threaten the officer and disrupt processing until he had to be removed from the magistrates office, Williams said.
The officer was uninjured.
Austin was charged with trespassing and assault and battery of a law enforcement officer.
