Virginia Beach woman’s death was suicide

VIRGINIA BEACH — The death of a 22-year-old woman, whose body was found along the wooded portion of the 2500 block of Edgehill Avenue June 27, has been ruled a suicide.

The cause of death of Denise Martin, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Norfolk, was drowning.

Authorities from that office did not release information on the approximate day and time of Martin’s death.

Martin went missing June 19. Police said she was last seen in the 2600 block Dunlace Way at around 7 or 8 a.m. that day.

Her body was found approximately two blocks from her Dunlace Way home, police said.

She had just graduated from Longwood University and moved back to the area to live with her family.
