Multiple fire departments responded to a blaze early Tuesday morning in Toano.

The James City-Bruton Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a fire at 9086 Richmond Road around 5 a.m. Tuesday, the fire department said in a Facebook post.

Firefighters arrived to find a burning detached garage with two vehicles and multiple lawn mowers inside.

Crews from multiple departments and localities worked to put out the fire and protect two adjacent buildings that were exposed to the fire.

The scene was about 250 feet up an unpaved driveway and required crews to bring in water using a tanker, the post said.

The garage, vehicles and lawn mowers are a total loss. There is no estimate on the cost of damages at this time, the James City-Bruton Volunteer Fire Department said in a news release.

Responding departments included the James City-Bruton Volunteer Fire Department, James City County Fire Department, New Kent Volunteer Fire Department, West Point Volunteer Fire Department and York County Department of Fire & Life Safety.
