The Neptune Boardwalk Festival starts this weekend. Here’s what’s happening

VIRGINIA BEACH — The 45th Annual Neptune Festival begins on Friday.

The weekend-long event will feature hundreds of artists, dozens of concerts, and food.

According to the Neptune Festival’s website, the weekend will have daily concerts at three festival stages featuring local, regional, and national acts.

More than 250 artists will set up shop on the boardwalk, along with tasty food options. From crab cakes to Italian ice, stained glass to pottery, there is sure to be something to delight young and old festival goers alike, according to the event website.

The International Sand Sculpting Championship tent will also be set up, where 32 sand artists from around the world will sculpt 22 separate works.

The festival website suggests arriving early for front row seating, as many of the floats will have beads and other fun giveaways for the crowd. The parade rolls down Atlantic Avenue Saturday at 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.

This event is free and open to the public, and will take place rain or shine, according to the festival website.
