Two men were arrested at a Walmart store in York County last week for attempting to steal a television, according to the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office.
On Sept. 12 ,Dean Patrick Newman, 48, and Wallace Curry Jr., 55, removed the security tags from a television at the store in the 2600 block of George Washington Memorial Highway and placed it in a shopping cart, sheriff’s office spokeswoman Shelly Ward said. The two men were wearing yellow traffic vests and pushed the cart past the store’s cash registers.
The television was valued at $400, Ward said.
A Walmart employee involved in loss prevention at the store saw the pair and reported them to the law enforcement, Ward said.
Deputies arrived on the scene and arrested Newman, of Martinsville, and Curry, of Hampton. Newman also allegedly attempted to steal a pack of T-shirts, Ward said.
Both men were charged with petit larceny, Ward said.
