William & Mary to test emergency alert system this week

Update Wednesday 9 a.m.: William & Mary has rescheduled its siren and emergency test for Thursday, Sept. 20 at 12:15 p.m.

William & Mary will test its emergency notification network, including its siren system, on Wednesday.

The drill will be conducted at 12:15 p.m. During the exercise, the university will test both the campuswide siren system and the mass-notification messaging system.

Sirens are stationed at the Integrated Science Center, 540 Landrum Drive; the Law School, 613 S. Henry St.; and the School of Education building, 301 Monticello Ave.

In a real emergency, residents in the community who hear the sirens may check for information and instructions at www.wm.edu.

Residents also can follow W&M emergency news through the free W&M app and on social media via the W&M Facebook and Twitter pages.
