After evacuating students and staff from campus this week in anticipation of Hurricane Florence, William & Mary has announced that students will be allowed to return to their dorm rooms Sunday.

Dormitories will reopen at noon Sunday and classes will be back in session Monday morning, according to a W&M campus alert issued Friday afternoon. Students were reminded to bring their room key and ID card in order to gain access to their dormitories.

All students were ordered to be off campus by 5 p.m. Wednesday as Hurricane Florence approached the East Coast. Students were told to follow their personal emergency evacuation plans that were on file with the college.

It was the first time campus was evacuated since Hurricane Irene in 2011.

Commons Dining Hall will resume service from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Commons and Sadler will open at 8 a.m. Monday, and the remaining dining halls on campus will begin serving students at 11 a.m., resuming normal hours.

No changes to the academic calendar were announced.

Students or faculty with questions are advised to call the University Call Center at 757-221-1565.
