A piece of heavy machinery caught fire Wednesday in an industrial park in James City County.

The James City-Bruton Volunteer Fire Department, James City County Fire Department and New Kent County Fire Department responded to an excavator tractor fire around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, volunteer fire department spokesman Bill Apperson said.

Crews arrived at the scene, in the Hankins Industrial Park Complex at 8212 Croaker Rd., to find the equipment fully on fire.

The fire was extinguished “without any problems,” Apperson said.
