Williamsburg Police have charged a Newport News man with grand larceny after he allegedly stole a work truck from a job site near Penniman Road and Parkway Drive.
Police believe Orestes Thomas Guerra, 32, stole a Ford F-250 from the work site on June 6, 2017, police spokesman Maj. Greg Riley said.
Police were called to the work site around 7:30 p.m., where the site foreman told police the truck was missing.
The truck was recovered the following day in the 700 block of Motoka Drive in Newport News.
The investigating officer connected Guerra to the vehicle after finding a cell phone in the vehicle, Riley said.
Police obtained an arrest warrant for Guerra on Monday. As of 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Guerra had not been served with the warrant.
Guerra has previously been charged with several offenses in Newport News, including assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, falsely identify self to a law enforcement officer, trespassing, resisting arrest and strangulation, online court records for the Newport News General District Court show.
