Williamsburg Police arrested a 27-year-old man and charged him with armed robbery after he allegedly robbed a CVS Pharmacy.
Matthew Gray Fitzwater, of Williamsburg, is charged with armed robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Officers responded around 3:25 p.m. Tuesday to the CVS Pharmacy at 1600 Richmond Road for a report of a robbery, said Williamsburg Police spokesman Maj. Greg Riley.
When police arrived, the clerk at the front register told officers a man in his 20s with long blond hair and a beard came into the store wearing all black clothing.
The man displayed a handgun and demanded money, and the clerk complied, Riley said.
The man left the area with an “undisclosed amount of cash,” Riley said. There were no injuries.
Around 4 a.m., police received information from a clerk at a nearby hotel and discovered Fitzwater in a friend’s room, where he was arrested.
