A Toano woman was arrested Monday on assault and robbery charges in connection with an altercation outside an apartment building in early June.
Yalicia Durant, 22, is accused of punching a woman and stealing her phone outside an apartment building at the Burnt Ordinary Apartments on June 1, James City County Police spokeswoman Stephanie Williams said.
Police were called to the 7800 block of Warren Court around 10:30 p.m. June 1. The 32-year-old victim told police Durant forcefully took her phone after she said she was going to call 911, then punched her.
The victim was treated by medics at the scene and had redness around her eye, Williams said.
Police put out a “wanted” post on Facebook for Durant on July 2. She was arrested Monday.
The victim was able to retrieve her phone.
Durant was charged with assault and battery, maliciously preventing someone from summoning law enforcement and felony robbery. She is scheduled to appear for a hearing at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 30 in Williamsburg-James City County General District Court.
