Deadline approaching to apply for cooling assistance in James City County

Time is quickly running out for James City County residents in needs to apply for cooling assistance.

Residents can apply until Aug. 15 for assistance to cover repairs, purchases or payments on electric bills.

Applicants must be in need of cooling equipment and have a person who is elderly, disabled or under 6 years old in the home. Households must also be within a certain monthly income range, according to James City County Social Services.

All benefits are provided based on the availability of funding.

Those interested in the program can apply online, by calling the Enterprise Customer Service Center at 855-635-4370, or by visiting the James City County Department of Social Services is located at 5249 Olde Towne Road.
