YORK — To properly celebrate National Moth Week, pay a visit to New Quarter Park on Friday for the “Black Light and Bugs” event.

The free program runs from 9 to 11 p.m and will be hosted by members of the Historic Rivers Chapter of the Virginia Master Naturalists, a statewide volunteer organization.

“Black Light and Bugs” will begin with a presentation from local naturalist Teta Kain, who specializes in nature photography, according to a York County news release.

“Her knowledge of plants and wildlife is encyclopedic and a real treat for those participating in any of her programs,” the release said.

Following the presentation, groups will explore the night to observe and identify moths and other critters, so participants should bring a flashlight and camera.

New Quarter Park is at 1000 Lakeshead Drive.

For more information about the program, call York County at 757-890-3500 or New Quarter Park at 757-890-5840.
