NORFOLK — A man has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a deadly pedestrian crash Wednesday night on North Military Highway.
Police said the driver, James Thompson, 50, stayed at the scene and was not injured. He is being held in the Norfolk City Jail without bond.
Investigators said 39-year-old Jonathan Justice was trying to cross the street in the 800 block of North Military Highway around 10:40 p.m. when he was struck by a northbound Dodge Caravan.
Justice died at the scene. There were no other vehicles involved.
Police said additional charges against Thompson may be pending.
